From 1979 into 2000, Monadnock Perspectives served the region with insightful commentary on the subjects of development, ecology, conservation, and preservation. The contributors form an impressive list of some of the foremost regional (and sometimes national) thinkers on those topics.
The writing is thoughtful and sometimes provocative. In hindsight, some of the projections and conclusions have proven incorrect –diverted by unforeseen factors which we can now
understand. But that does not diminish the importance or the passion of the original observations.
For anyone who resided in the Monadnock era during those years, these newsletters will prove interesting and in some cases even entertaining. If you are relatively new to this area, reading Monadnock Perspectives will give you some insights into this recent segment of our history.

How This Site Works
There is a separate page created for an index of each volume (usually four issues) of the newsletter (see the “Archive”button above. The article title, author name, some keywords, and an abstract is provided. There are also two links:one opens a regular pdf of the issue, and the other opens a “reader”which provides a more magazine-like display. Please note that the pdfs were created from scans of the original hard copies,so they are not searchable in the way that they would be had they been created directly from the original file. This also means that opening the pdf brings you to the front page of a given issue –you may need to scroll through to find the specific article.
The Author listing provides the author bio exactly as it was written in the newsletter. In the event that an author bio was modified in later articles, the additional information is included along with a reference to the issue in which it changed.
